If you’re looking to see the beauty of Kashmir in only 2 to 3 days, then the Tullian Lake trek would be my recommendation. Its got a little bit of everything, lakes, mountains, stunning meadows and vast valleys. This hike might just be the perfect taste of Kashmir.

I did the walk when i first arrived in Srinagar and was blown away.

The trek will take you through some of the most breathtaking scenery in India. You will pass through dense forests, cross rivers, and climb steep hills to reach Tullian Lake.

Local Culture:

You will have the opportunity to interact with the local people and learn about their culture and way of life. The trek will take you through remote villages where you can experience the local cuisine and customs.

On my trek I exchanged rice with the local shepherds kids for some fresh goat milk – yum!

Accessibility

The route options include shorter and easier treks for those who are short on time or have less experience, and longer and more challenging treks for experienced trekkers who want to explore the area in more detail.

You can even get taken up by pony – but I wouldn’t recommend that.

When is the Best time to visit Tullian Lake?

The best time to visit Tullian Lake is from June to September when the weather is mild and the skies are clear. During this time, the temperatures range from 10 to 20 degrees Celsius, and the days are sunny and bright.

There are several route options to reach Tullian Lake, depending on your level of fitness and the amount of time you have. Here are the three most popular options:

2 Day Trek

This is the shortest and easiest route to Tullian Lake. It is perfect for those who are short on time or not very experienced trekkers. Here is the itinerary:

Day 1: Pahalgam – Kanimarg

The trek begins in the town of Pahalgam, which is located in the Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir. You will start your trek from here and walk to Kanimarg valley which is absolutely breathtaking.

Some people call it a mini Switzerland. I said “this looks better than New Zealand” when I saw it.

Day 2: Tulian Lake – Kanimarg – Baisaran – Pahalgam – Srinagar

On the second day, you will hike to Tullian Lake and spend some time there. After that, you will return to Kanimarg and then to Pahalgam. From Pahalgam, you will take a taxi or bus to Srinagar.

3 Day Trek Option

This route is slightly longer and more challenging than the 2-day trek. It is perfect for those who want a little more adventure and are willing to spend more time on the trek. Here is the itinerary:

Day 1: Srinagar – Pahalgam – Kanimarg

On the first day, you will drive from Srinagar to Pahalgam and then start your trek from there to Kanimarg.

Day 2: Kanimarg – Tulian Lake – Kanimarg

On the second day, you will hike to Tullian Lake and spend the night there.

Day 3: Kanimarg – Baisaran – Pahalgam – Srinagar

On the third day, you will return to Kanimarg and then to Pahalgam. From Pahalgam, you will take a taxi or bus back to Srinagar.

5 Day Trek

This route is the longest and most challenging of all the routes to Tullian Lake. It is perfect for experienced trekkers who want to explore the area in more detail. Here is the itinerary:

Day 1: Trek from Ganesh Bal to Chutiyaal Village

On the first day, you will start your trek from Ganesh Bal and hike to Chutiyaal Village.

Day 2: Trek from Chutiyaal Village to Kanimol

On the second day, you will hike from Chutiyaal Village to Kanimol.

Day 3: Trek from Kanimol to Tulian Marag

On the third day, you will hike from Kanimol to Tulian Marag.

Day 4: Trek from Tulian Marag to Tulian Lake; Back to Chutiyaal Village

On the fourth day, you will hike from Tulian Marag to Tullian Lake and spend some time there. After that, you will hike back to Chutiyaal Village.

Day 5: Trek from Chutiyaal Village to Ganesh Bal

On the final day, you will hike from Chutiyaal Village back to Ganesh Bal.
