The 6 Best Places to Stay in Kuta, Lombok
Kuta Lombok is no longer just a sleepy surf town. Over the past few years it’s grown into one of Indonesia’s most up and comming destinations.
Between epic surf beaches, rugged coastal drives, and an ever-expanding mix of cafés, surf shops, and boutique hotels, it’s a place that let’s you escape the bustle of Bali but still provides the creature comforts you want on a holiday. Its the perfect spot to RELAX
The food scene was surprisingly good too!
I recently spent 2 weeks in Kuta and (in my typical style) didn’t book anywhere to stay until I arrived. That meant we moved hotels 4 times and went to checkout/haggle-with/get-turned-away-from about 8 different places in the process.
We also stayed at an absolute bomb (which obviously isn’t listed here)
Tip: Don’t be like me. It pays to book ahead if you go in busy season, as there is currently more demand than supply. I told you Kuta is getting popular!
This article is my honest take on the six best places to stay in Kuta, Lombok – not some copy-paste or AI generated list you’d find elsewhere. Each location stands out for a different reason, so you can match your stay with the trip you want.

What to Look for
Before the list, here’s my quick checklist when booking in Kuta:
- Location: do you want to be in the heart of town or tucked away in the hills?
- Vibe: eco-luxury, romantic couples’ retreat, or mid-range boutique?
- Food & breakfast: almost half your mornings will start here – it matters.
- Transport: a scooter is essential, but being walkable to cafés and the beach is a big plus.
- Noise levels: Kuta’s central strip can get loud; outlying stays are much calmer.
- Proximity to Mosque: I actually love the sound of the call to prayer, but some prefer to sleep past 5am. Something to consider!
1. Mana Eco Retreat – Best overall boutique eco-luxury stay
Set in lush gardens with yoga shalas, a large pool, and beautifully designed bungalows, Mana is the closest thing Kuta has to a destination in itself. Rooms start around USD 90–120 per night.
Why it wins: Mana balances eco-friendly principles with genuine comfort. The rooms are simple but stylish – light wood, big beds, and dreamy outdoor bathrooms. The plant-based restaurant is excellent, and the daily yoga classes give the whole place a wellness vibe without feeling preachy. It’s tucked just out of central Kuta, so you get calm surroundings (and less street noise) without being isolated.
What to expect: Mana isn’t cheap by Lombok standards, and the wifi can be patchy (welcome to island life). But for the overall package – wellness, design, food, and comfort – it’s hard to beat.
Disclaimer: I didn’t stay here (it was fully booked!) but visited Mana multiple times for their yoga classes and spa facility. The place is an abosulte vibe. When I return to Kuta, I will be 100% booking to stay at Mana Eco Retreat
2. Rascals (Adults Only) – Best for couples & romantic escapes
An adults-only boutique stay with stylish villas, tropical gardens, and two inviting pools, Rascals feels tailor-made for couples. Prices usually fall between USD 70–100 per night.
Weirdly, I saw a bunch of families with kids here.. so I’m not really sure what ‘adults only’ actually means..
Why it stands out: The design is chic yet relaxed, with a lot of open-air features like outdoor bathrooms and shaded daybeds. Service is genuinely standout – the kind where staff remember your name and make you feel like more than just another guest. Breakfast is fresh and generous, and the location is far enough off the main road to feel peaceful while still walkable to town.
There is a top teir Spa (make sure to book) and a french bakery on site too (almond croissant anyone?)
What to expect: It’s adults-only, so no kids running around. That makes it quiet – maybe too quiet if you want nightlife on your doorstep. Some of the outdoor showers can feel exposed depending on your room, so if privacy matters, ask ahead.
3. Jivana Resort –Best for garden-luxury & total calm
With koi ponds, turtles, and birds scattered through its tropical gardens, Jivana is more like a sanctuary than a hotel. Villas here typically cost USD 200–250 per night.
What makes it special: The grounds are beautiful – think winding paths, lily ponds, and lush greenery. Villas are spacious and thoughtfully designed, the pool is serene, and there are yoga and wellness activities if you want them. The atmosphere is quiet and meditative, yet you’re still only a short scooter ride from Kuta’s centre.
What to expect: It’s the most expensive option in my roundup but for good reason. The clenliness, professionalism and calibre of service here is a notch above anything else I experienced in Lombok. With such a calm setting, it’s perfect if you want to recharge away from the bustle.

4. Twinys – Best mid-range value stay
Twinys is a small boutique hotel with modern rooms, a tidy pool, and great staff – all at very fair mid-range rates. Expect USD 45–65 per night.
Why it’s a winner: Rooms are spotless and simple, with the bonus of outdoor bathrooms. The garden is well kept, the pool is inviting, and the staff genuinely go the extra mile. It’s located just far enough from the centre to be quiet at night, but you’re still close to the action with a scooter.
What to expect: You’re not getting high-end luxury here. The pool is smaller, the food is simpler, and you won’t find spa services or yoga classes. But if you’re after clean comfort, good service, and value for money, Twinys nails it.
Gym Tip: Twiny’s also includes a complimentary gym membership at XENOFIT, which is a must visit if your’re a gym junkie like me. They even run CrossFit and Hyrox classes daily. One off visits are ~220,000 so you’re basically making money staying at Twiny’s (boy math)
5. Naia Boutique Retreat – Best for boho vibes & central location
With only six rooms, colourful boho décor, and a leafy central courtyard, Naia feels like a little slice of personality in the middle of town. Rooms go for USD 75–100 per night.
Why it’s a standout: The atmosphere is intimate – you’ll often get to know the staff and other guests. Décor is playful and creative, breakfasts are excellent, and the staff bend over backwards to make your stay memorable. The location couldn’t be better: right on Kuta’s main street, close to cafés, surf shops, and nightlife.
What to expect: Being central has its downsides – you’ll hear some (actually quite a lot of) street noise, you’ll hear a lot of mosque noise too (being right next door).. With just a handful of rooms, availability is limited, so you need to book early. It’s more about charm and vibe than big resort facilities. The upside is you’ll walk out the front door and be in the heart of Kuta.
We had a scooter the whole time, but the main street of Kuta is pretty hectic. It was actually quite freeing to not need the scoot if we wanted to grab something to eat. Naia gets a big up-vote on the location!

6. Jati Villas – Best for private villa luxury
If you’d rather have your own villa with a plunge pool than a hotel room, Jati Villas (now Jati Kuta Lombok) is the pick. Rates are usually USD 130–180 per night.
Why it shines: Each villa is built with reclaimed teak and antique details, set around private gardens and pools. Breakfast can be served to your room, the staff are excellent, and the atmosphere is tranquil while still close enough to walk into town.
What to expect: Villas are pricey and there are only a few, so they book up quickly. You won’t find a full onsite restaurant or large communal spaces here – it’s more about privacy, quiet, and indulgence. Perfect for couples and honeymoons.
Final Word
Kuta Lombok has a mix of stays that now rival Bali – but with far less crowding. Whether you want a villa with your own pool, a yoga-eco retreat, or just a clean and friendly mid-range stay, the six above are the ones worth booking.
If you’re chasing quiet and wellness, go Mana or Jivana. For romance, it’s Rascals or Jati Villas. If you want to be in the middle of it all, Naia. And if you want value without compromise, Twinys.
Whichever you choose, the real highlight is outside your door – the beaches, surf, and sunsets of south Lombok.
